From the Pastor

Recently, I read this quote from Richard Rohr, from his book, “Falling Upward: A Spirituality for the Two Halves of Life”,
“As Desmond Tutu told me on a recent trip to Cape Town, ‘We are only the light bulbs, Richard, and our job is just to remain screwed in!’”
In Matthew 5:14-16, Jesus says, “You are the light of the world. A city on top of a hill can’t be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a basket. Instead, they put it on top of a lampstand, and it shines on all who are in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before people, so they can see the good things you do and praise your Father who is in heaven.”  (CEB)
When we turn the other cheek, our light shines…when we go the second mile when others won’t, our light shines…when we risk looking like a fool for Christ’s sake, our light shines … when we respond in kindness rather than harshness, our light shines…when we do just what Jesus would do, our light shines.
In John 8:12, Jesus says, “I am the light of the world. Whomever follows me won’t walk in darkness but will have the light of life.” (CEB)
“We are only the light bulbs … and our job is just to remain “screwed in” to THE Light of the World … Jesus who is the Christ. Amen!
Blessings and Peace,
Pastor E

This morning I read from Mark 12:28-34a, where a legal expert asked Jesus …
“Which commandment is the most important of all? Jesus replied, “The most important one is Israel, listen! Our God is the one Lord, and you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your being, with all your mind and with all your strength.”  The second is this, “You will love your neighbor as yourself. No other commandment is greater than these.”  The legal expert said to him, “Well said, teacher. You have truthfully said that God is one and there is no other besides him. And to love God with all of the heart, a full understanding, and all of one’s strength, and to love one’s neighbor as oneself is much more important than all kinds of entirely burned offerings and sacrifices.” When Jesus saw that he had answered with wisdom, he said to him, “You aren’t far from God’s kingdom.” (CEB)
In “Moby Dick,” Captain Ahab said, “No fear…. I like to feel something in this slippery world that can hold.”  In this crazy, slippery world, one thing does hold … Love! Christ calls us to “Love God with all of the heart … and all of one’s strength … and to love one’s neighbor as oneself.” Love is the algorithm (the path) that gives us “kingdom” traction and meaning and purpose per God’s original design. When we posture, or boast, or do good things for vanity’s sake, we are missing the point of love. Love is not self-serving … love always points at God. In fact, God is Love … so we are called to view every aspect of our existence through a lens of sacrifice and love for the sake of others. When love is projected in an unselfish manner, then the image of God will manifest as a well-focused light in our lives and the lives of those in the periphery. Romans 5:5 says, “…and hope does not disappoint us, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit that has been given to us.” Thus, Jesus showed us love that will not let us go … a love that holds … and Jesus calls us to love … Love God … Love our neighbor. And when we do, we too will hear, “You aren’t far from God’s Kingdom.”
Blessings & Peace!
Pastor E

Good afternoon. I was wondering if this is a Non-Denominational church?

    • admin says:

Steven, we apologize that this has taken so long to answer! We have been undergoing some changes to our teams, but we are starting to put that focus back on our website now. I hope you have looked us up on Facebook (The Edge Church), but if you have not received an answer to your question… we are supported by the Methodist Church, and Pastor Eric is ordained by the Methodist Church. That said, our church has a VERY non-denominational feel, and we pride ourselves on being not just a church, but a community! We hope you come visit us if you have not already. Our services are contemporary, and EDGE-y. Again, we apologize for the delay!

    Dear Pastor and Wife,
I am attempting, I think, to relocate, to this area and need, the Prayers, of the Faithful (may I have a mental, hands-laying, Prayer, to God, for my Financial Welfare, and the persons, involved, with helping me, secure, Loans, for home Purchase, this area). Might I, please, ask, for the inclusion, of all your Leaders, in this Prayer.
Thank you, God, thru this your Church, your People.
Also, God, has focused my eye, upon your Church, where, I would like to Worship.
Since, I will, most likely, have to build, if any of the Church might refer me, to any available lodging, I would also, appreciate, that.
It is my claim, that I am a Servant, of Christ, attempting, in this most difficult world, to do so. I desire, to be with Christ and His People.

Thank you, All, kindly, in His Holy Name, I Pray.!
Dear Father God/Jesus, in the name, of the Father, Son, and, Holy Ghost, may, I have your help or further Direction.
