From the Pastor

Recently, I read this quote from Richard Rohr, from his book, “Falling Upward: A Spirituality for the Two Halves of Life”,
“As Desmond Tutu told me on a recent trip to Cape Town, ‘We are only the light bulbs, Richard, and our job is just to remain screwed in!’”
In Matthew 5:14-16, Jesus says, “You are the light of the world. A city on top of a hill can’t be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a basket. Instead, they put it on top of a lampstand, and it shines on all who are in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before people, so they can see the good things you do and praise your Father who is in heaven.”  (CEB)
When we turn the other cheek, our light shines…when we go the second mile when others won’t, our light shines…when we risk looking like a fool for Christ’s sake, our light shines … when we respond in kindness rather than harshness, our light shines…when we do just what Jesus would do, our light shines.
In John 8:12, Jesus says, “I am the light of the world. Whomever follows me won’t walk in darkness but will have the light of life.” (CEB)
“We are only the light bulbs … and our job is just to remain “screwed in” to THE Light of the World … Jesus who is the Christ. Amen!
Blessings and Peace,
